Founded in 1898, Woods Manufacturing Company Limited established its reputation in the textile industry by outfitting the Canadian Army and countless historical expeditions, including the arctic travels of Admiral Richard E. Byrd (USN) and Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen.

Woods Manufacturing produced most of the tents used by the British Army during the South African campaign. They also produced the first gas masks and countless canvas products for the Canadian Army during WWI and WWII.

In 1989, my father, Guthrie Woods, founded this company – Guthrie Woods Products Limited – with the ideal of continuing our rich family tradition of craftsmanship without compromise. To him, the ability to adapt to customers’ individual needs and a high level of commitment to quality were essential ingredients that lead to developing customer satisfaction.

I am pleased to say that, four generations later, the company is strong and growing as a result of remaining faithful to the ideals set in place by my father. In recent years, we have expanded our accoutrement items and added full size ceremonial and presentation swords to our regular stock.

Building on our existing specialty die and casting capabilities, we have introduced a series of miniature replicas. The results of which have been very well received.

With each new project, we utilize our experience with various metals, enamels and finishes to meet the needs of our clients’ most detailed expectations. We are proud to highlight some of the medallions and coins recently produced as well as the attention to fine detail in the replication of various Canadian Forces honours and awards.

One can see that we maintain strong ties with the police services and the Canadian Forces in our role as RCMP licensee and official supplier under Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of National Defence. These alliances, coupled with your purchases of licensed products, allow us in a modest way to contribute to the efforts of the RCMP Foundation and the Military Families Fund.

Guthrie Woods Products Ltd. remains 100% Canadian owned and family operated. Our successful history is vitally linked to the dynamic corporate leadership of my great grandfather, Col. James W. Woods – founder of the original company.
